CEMETERY GATES

Cemetery Gates is the moniker of long-time writing duo Gene Priest and Derek Jones. The idea behind the project was born out of their collective love of ‘70s and ‘80s horror film scores, as well as synthesizer driven electronic music from artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, and The Postal Service.

The collaborative idea was to mix the styles of instrumental film score style music, with a touch of the darker side of electronic pop with vocals and lyrical content surrounding life, death, anxiety, nightmares, and everything in between. This mix produces synthesizer heavy music accompanied by ghostly vocals and haunting melodies, as well instrumental “horror theme” inspired tracks with titles that pay homage to horror films old and new, as well as original scores with the purpose of keeping the classic horror score vibe alive and moving forward with a new spin.

LIVE ONE-TAKE SESSIONS

As Film Composers and Recording Artists we find the best way to expand our ideas and creativity is to just hit record, grab an instrument, and see where it takes us. These sessions are all a series of one take recordings whether it be recording together or building a song one piece at a time.

MUSIC VIDEOS

Below are a bunch of music videos in our “covers” series.

We love to re-imagine songs that have always inspired us and inject a bit of our own style back into them.
